the inconvenient truth

It’s not supprise that they don’t know there iphones, there mp3, there laptops are not energy efficiency product. ‘What can I do?’ They will never give up playing touch screen everyday, and will never ever get into some jungle and live a hippy life. Human being invent tools (yeah, including cyber devices) to live better, not to suffer. So, don’t blame the people playing Nintendo everyday, and maybe we can’t say the evil company who want you to through ipad 2 away and get a new ipad are only to blame.

You can’t quite eating only because the fast food make you fat. The theory in my brain is that: one can still eat fast food, but maybe switch to low fat, or change the fast food brand, or ear less fast food. It not the fast food to be blamed, or eating is bad.

So here is the question in many people’s mind. Yeah we know the world is surfering from the globle warming, but what can we do if we don’t have either professional knoledge or power. Designer surely can help. Maybe one day the ‘green’ tag could be a standard but not only a advertising word printed on the package.

‘Don’t worry, we do the environmental friendly thing for you. You can easily save your world in using everyday products.’ Maybe this is the promise that many customers are looking for. There’s a group of people who don’t want to make much effort to study which package is recyclabe, and in the same time they are upset by the truth that the world will be poisoned in the nearist future if they don’t recyle correctly. Yes we need to educate everybody about the recycle, about buying local food and driving less car. But the education take times. People are lazy, so we invite so much tools to do things for us. So why not just make tools ‘green’? This statement looks foolish and naive in some state, but it is not wrong, and that’s what a designer can do some effort with.

the packaging is very easy to use. it allowed children eat breakfast on their own. they don't need their parents to spread butter for them. i think it's great to holding the butter stick and spread butter. it more easier than using knife.
for the poster, you can use more image to instead of written text. it will more attractive.

Lily Nguyen
This packaging would be very useful for the new mums. good work on your design solution. your poster contains a lot of information to support your design, but it's hard to find a focus on your poster. there are too much information on it.
nice rendering and layout for your poster.

Ke Zhang
the sandwich packaging is a nice concept. because children aways cant finish their sandwich at once.   the graphic on packaging is very attractive to children, and because it is foldable, children can keep the sandwich in the box for next time.

Stella Ho
the graphic on your packaging is very interesting. i really like it. it allowed kids  making milk shake easily. it divided coco powder into small portion, so they will know how much they need to put.
i think the poster layout it great, you can use more brighter colours.

Yuliang Gu
i like this concept. but i am just wondered  as the shape of the spoon is hemisphere, how does it work if there is only few milk powder left in the container?
the poster is simple and clear. but i think you need more images to show how to use.

i like your design. it's a good way to use solar energy to power BBQ in public area, especially for beach area. the idea is great, but i suggest you can show how much energy can save by changing behaviours. the posters are very informative and visually strong. the layout is very simple and clear.

Ke Zhang

i like your concept. nice work. rent a toy at shopping centre is more easier than went to local library. but the shape and colour for your machine need to develop, to make it more attractive to children.
the the colour of poster should be related to your design product. the size of the machine need to be adjust.

Jieyun Yang Vivien

the idea is really good. parking becomes a big problem for student who driving to uni.  i can see the benefit you trying to make. it would definitely encourage me to rent this scooter as it's cheap and less restriction on the road.
the poster need to show more research on technology.

Shenea Huang

interesting concept . the idea of reusable container is great. but i think the size of the machine should be bigger, as the cereal will be run off quick during the day.
i like the shape of your design. it's very simple.

 Chieh Min Lee
most of family have the problem within batteries recycle. i really like your design. the machine can collecting the used batteries and determine weather the battery gone is flat or not. it can effeciently reduce the waste.
i like the idea of the card system. nice work.

Video Review-Who killed Electric Car

The documentary seems had a very fierce opinion. It actually make me upset buy give a whole list of guilty judgement on every part which have human being engaged. We saw how capitalist (or something else)manipulate everything to 'discourage' the whole line of EV. The reality looks like a plot novel.

There's always American documentary style such as freedom is not true freedom, fair economy is not exist and there's currency war. Maybe it is a little Conspiracy Theory but a lot can be learned in this case.

Actually I don’t quite understand how the electiric can save more energy on operation of the auto mobile. But it seems that the pollution is more controlable while produce the eletricity first than charge the car.

I quite agree that the Research and Development Group (which including designers) is guity on ‘killing the car’. It seems that they are more royal on producing the car in this brand, this company and this generation. Obviously, there was a emotion about loyalty on the ‘baby’ they producted. Perhaps it is not so suitable to say that: a designer should think about a bigger picture, i.e., maybe thinking about saving the earth, but not thinking about just on earth saving car. But, it is a pity that this group of people were not able to start another way to continue the production of this kind of car. It’s not fair to say that they do not have the faith, but truly there was not too much effort have been made in this case.

It’s glad that other company brought there own electric cars. But we still wonder if there still a group of energy industry power hiding behind and supress the progress. Because we still cannot see much electric car on the road.

However there’re more problrems. A obvious one is that the supporting facilities is not keeping the peece of the production of the auto mobile. In some city of China, citizens drive electric bikes, and there’s news agency provide recharging service. But the service only comes after 5 years after the wide spread of the electric bikes. The supportig facilities is delayed.

Peer Feedback

 Question 1:

What are the issues, diffculties, or problems that my peer group found in understanding or interaction with my design, as expressed by my mockup and poster?

1 How to open the box (before see the poster)the graphic of the box is not clearly showing how to do it step by step.
2 Misunderstanding the funtion of the boxthe poster is not so clear to show it should stay on the fridge and control by parents.
3 Not so sure about the materialthe material and rendering is not secific on the poster
the shelf apperence is not shown on the poster

Question 2 :
What are my strategies for addressing the issues found?
What steps should I take to ensure that my posters communicate the merits of my design in the best possible way for the Cormack industry critique next week?

Make sure other people can understanding how the system work. The apprence of the package in this stage is still to rough. Keep away from the overpackaging. Make it more reusable. Have a clear hero shot. The graphic matters a lot in this design.
Settle down the method and material for manufacturing the package.

Studio 3B_Video reflections A

Video source: Giving packaging a new life How it’s made: Packaging ||| The video of Giving packaging a new life give me a lesson of how the waste are recycled. The specify system is really new to me. Where I come from is a country which have a poor recycle system. The recycle sense and garbage sorting system is slowly builded up during these 20 years. People still feel not easy to do the basic cycling things in daily life.It is a shame that when I saw the video, I was admiring those German systems. When I was at primary school, we had done some practicle research about the street garbage bins which aiming at sorting waste by recyclable and non-recyclable. It is funny that there were different sign 'system' used in one city: opposite colours, confusing signs, etc. 10 years later, they changed the sign, but the sorting thing is still work not so well. I cannot tell if there were problems on garbage bin design, or the elementary knowledge of sorting and recyling. There must be more things to do with the situation, especialy by better design. From my sight, the packaging industry is a extremly developed industry. Sometimes I really can't tell if the product on my hand is only a cover of the product or the packaging is product itself. In the past maybe the packaging was more about function, from butter papper to bag to hold grains. Then it was more about graphics, which is still the most important part of the packaging. I was so envy that Japanese have the most beautiful and largest variaty of those shining pakcaging graphic design when I was a child. The better the graphic was, the higher the price is. However, as I said before, the function is so developed to fit different consumers and serving conditions. Then the package become a part of the product. Porforming of the packaging becomes a very important part of using experience, while once apon the time, products were mostly 'naked'. It seems that nothing today do not have a packaging. Hence, there were so many packages to be produced in this mass-producing 'time'. The video gives a picture of how 'mass' the daily products are, about material, big quantity, profile and so on. It is important that a designer considered about how 'green' the package is. I still cannot wipe away the idea that 'plastic does no good to the planet', for it is easy to fatigue to lower quality, change chamestry feture during usage, etc. But for we cannot live without plastic today, it must have a hopeful technique future to due with these 'green' things. Resucing the diposal and make the life cycle longer may be a good direction of the new designs.
